Mainly envisioned as a place for tweens and young teens who enjoyed collecting things and spending time with their friends online, Tomotopia was a companion virtual world based on collectible computer mice. Users who bought a TomoMouse got access to the online world where they could play with the character and interact with other users through their characters.

Working together with production company Spiderdance, I created the initial concepts for the Tomotopia world and interface. Once the initial direction and props had been chosen from my concept sketches, I oversaw the 3D development of the world and characters.

I designed all the interface elements, from the initial sign-in screens to a toolbar-based interface (seen above) that allowed users to do three things from anywhere in the world: navigate through the four main areas (home, neighborhood, community, menu), adjust options, and chat. I also created all the elements for in-game events like invitations to chat, as below.
